What are the similarities and differences between the Western States Directory and the California Directory since California is a western state? The Western States Directory lists every art establishment in the following western states: Alaska; Arizona; Colorado; Hawaii; Idaho; Montana; Nevada; New Mexico; Oregon; Utah; Washington; and Wyoming. The state of California is excluded because the shear number of art establishments in California justified creating an independent Directory (no other state in the union has as many art establishments as California!). This facilitates data manipulation by the user. In brief, then, the California Directory lists only art establishments doing business in California, and the Western Directory lists art establishments doing business in all the other Western States. With regard the physical aspects of both the Western Directories and the California Directory, both use the same format. The California Directory, however, contains Display Ads paid for by different art establishments.
Why is the NYC Directory less costly than California Directory? Besides being quantitatively a smaller Directory, it is also one of our Best Sellers. So, we can afford sharing the savings with our customers.

Do you have a directory that includes e-mail addresses? All our Directories -- which altogether contain over 160,000 art establishments -- included e-mail addresses for all establishments that had an e-mail address. However, we stopped publishing e-mail addresses in our Directories in 2005 due to the fact that it became too difficult of a task updating each entry every six months because the majority of people change email addresses frequently due to spam and other reasons (but the major reason for changing an e-mail address is spam). How does one avoid spam? Change e-mail address!!! The most reliable way of obtaining the most current email address(es) of an art gallery is to visit the website. For sure this is a long task if you wish to reach many art establishments, but there is no other way. A few years back we purchased several thousand email addresses from a "Mailing List Compiler". They guaranteed us their emails were "fresh" and "guaranteed". Despite this guarantee, more than 84% of the list was undeliverable. We had squandered our money but had learned a good lesson. And that lesson is: that the most unreliable address in existence is the e-mail address! It is good today, gone tomorrow -- literally!!!
Are your Directories available in Excel format? Our Digital Editions come on CD and formatted in WordPerfect, MSWord, and in Text Only file. There is a feature in Excel which allows you to import data recorded in other formats. So, while in Excel, you can import, say, a Digital Directory formatted in Text Only file, and voila! You're good to go.
